Guided Meditation: Climbing a Mountain

Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes it takes work. It can be hard to want to keep persevering, to keep on keepin’ on, so to speak. In this guided meditation, I lead you on a climb up a mountain. On this climb, you’ll have the chance to discover or reconnect to your own power and strength.

As you listen to this guided meditation, allow yourself to enter into a state of relaxation. To do this, find somewhere that you can be comfortable without distractions. You may choose to close your eyes or to keep your eyes open. If you keep your eyes open, you will see mountain scenes from Rocky Mountain National Park and the Alps in Bavaria, Germany.

When you “return” from the mountain, take note of how you’re feeling. Do you feel more grounded? More capable? If you have the words to describe your experience, you might find it helpful to write down any thoughts or sensations that come to mind. Otherwise, you may also find it helpful to draw, play with color, or do something else creative to help you further integrate your experience.

And remember, you can always come back to this guided meditation when you need to.

Source of the Guided Meditation Script

The script is from the book, “Diving Deeper: 30 Guided Visualization Scripts for Individual and Group Work.” It was written by my friend and music therapist colleague, Stephanie Bolton, MA, MT-BC. She’s a Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery and practices Guided Imagery in Music (GIM). If you want to experience GIM yourself, she offers telehealth sessions through her practice, Healing Sounds Music Therapy.
