Songs and Support: An Online Music Support Group for COVID-Cautious Adults

In these challenging times, we all know the importance of staying connected while prioritizing our safety. I’m thrilled to introduce “Songs and Support,” an online music therapy support group that I’ve decided to offer to other COVID-cautious adults out there. My intention is for it to be a space where we can support each other, have a good time, and enjoy the healing power of music.

1. We Know That COVID Is Still a Problem: While it may feel as though you’re the only one who is concerned about COVID, you aren’t. We’re a group of people who are also concerned about COVID. We won’t minimize your concerns.

2. Musical Activities: Get ready for a variety of musical experiences designed to bring some joy and relaxation into your life. From singing and using our voices in new ways to guided visualizations with music to sharing our favorite songs and discussing how they affect us, we’ll engage with music in different ways in ways accessible to all.

3. Fun Coping Skills: Let’s learn and practice coping skills in a way that’s enjoyable. Through the use of music, our sessions are designed to provide you with tools to navigate stress with a bit of levity and joy.

4. Community Building: Connect with like-minded individuals who share your concerns about the pandemic. Let’s build relationships while supporting each other through shared experiences and our mutual love for music.

What to Expect:

  • Guided Visualizations: Connect with your inner wisdom and deeper understanding through guided visualizations with music.
  • Song-Sharing: Share your favorite songs and discover new ones. Explore the emotional depth of music and connect with others through the songs that resonate with you.
  • Music-Based Discussion: Sometimes a song can say it better than we can. Engage with recorded music in a new way and learn more about yourself.
