What Is Self-Care to You?
What comes to your mind when you think of the word “self-care?” Do you imagine a day of decadent pampering? Do you imagine a weekend away? If your ideas require a lot of extra time, money, and effort, it makes it less likely that you’ll get around to practicing it.
Now that doesn’t mean that those sorts of experiences are “bad.” There is a time and a place for everything. Sometimes a massage absolutely is what you need in order to take care of yourself. Sometimes you need to take a trip out of town so that you can see new things, including seeing life from a new perspective.
Taking Care of Yourself = Self-Care
Speaking of seeing life from a new perspectice, what if instead you thought about the practice of self-care as a way to help you meet your basic needs? In this video I talk a bit about identifying what it is that you need and using that to inspire ways you can take care of yourself. The nice thing about this approach is that it doesn’t necessarily cost much extra money, although you may need to find ways to manage your time differently. But if managing your time differently is ultimately going to leave you feeling better, isn’t that a price you’re willing to pay?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this idea down below.
